Hi all, my first post. I have moved into a house that needs redcorated , have started trying to strip paper off but it's been put straight onto the plaster board.
It's a nightmare, can any one give me any hints that might help?

Maybe if I give a bit more info? I've tried using a steamer but it's removing the ames taping so back to the scraper and gouging lots of plasterboard.
I know there is no easy way, but is it a case of just persevering and having to use lots of fillers when I'm done? I feel like it's going to take me years :(

What kind of paper? chipwood? vinyl. have you tried scouring the face of paper, then soak well with hot water and sugar soap or washing up liquid leave each section for at least 30 min. you might find it comes off easier.
Myself I find any loose edges first and pull these off(bottom corners) then with a large brush wet the whole wall twice. scratch/ scour the face soak agin then go and have a cuppa for 30 min see what thet does.
good luck

Three layers, mostly vinyl. Top layers coming off not bad after soaking it but its the last layer that's the problem. The plasterboard wasn't painted before papering so it's well stuck. Trying to find best way with minimum damage to plasterboard.
