Renault Megane Gearbox Identification

Hi, I was diagnosed of needing a new gearbox so because of the value of the car i have been to a breakers and brought a low mileage second hand one. Now the very helpful chap has told me its the correct one for my car. I have a 30 day refund policy. But im not sure if my friend can fit it within that time. I would hate to find out that its not correct if i run over that time limit.

So my question to anybody who has knowledge on this please could you help me, The car is a mk1 Renault Megane 1.6 16valve 5 speed petrol 2001, The number on the replacement Gearbox is JB3973 and the number on my Gearbox is JB3953. Will it fit Also i have been told replace the clutch kit, so when i order the clutch kit and they ask for the reg will it mean because its not the gearbox that came with the car is it going to fit?

Motor factor will tell you if there are more than one clutch kit available for you car Make/Model (engine code will help).

Best to ask a gearbox specialist about the gearbox, but its a pity you cant try it within the warranty? Will he give you a few extra days if you go back and show him the box still in the boot? (If he doesn't head for the hills, when he sees you coming .........
