my shower has a seprate wylex fuse box of it's own in my electric cupboard.
it is rated at 30 amps switch with a 30 amp mcb fuse fitted. and runs to
the shower on 6mm cable.
the new shower i want to put in is a 9.5kw shower can anybody tell me
if i need to change the wiring or fuses ??
the seperate wylex fuse box is connected directly to the main supply
i can not turn this supply off, to fit a new fuse box. can any electrician
do this for me or do i have to contact the electricity board ??

you would be better off using 10mm cable and a 40 amp fuse/mcb but when you turn off the separate consumers unit it then becomes safe to connect the new cable to where the existing one currently is.

If you leave it as it is the fuse will go soon as you turn on your new shower or the cable will catch fire (dramatic but true)

cheers breezer.
the seperate consumer unit says 30 amp on it, is this the amp rating of the switch inside the unit ? as i have seen the same c.u's in b&q that say 40 amp on them, would my 30 amp c.u. need swapping for the 40 amp unit or can i put the 40 amp mcb in the 30 amp c.u.
if my c.u. needs swapping do i need to call an electrician or the
electricty suppliers.

tough one that, it depends on where it says 30 amp, techniclly you should get your electricity supplier to change it as it is fed direct from their fuse
