Hello,

Complete newbie here. Ceiling light in the bathroom seemed to go out last night so we removed the bulb and bought a new one at the correct wattage (12 watt, screw in). However, in trying to replace with the new bulb, we realized we may have taken the socket out with the light bulb accidentally.

Can anyone tell me if a) this is the case; b) what to do next.

See photos of the bulb and what I think is the socket and also where it should fit back on to the ceiling.

Any help would be appreciated. :D

It may be that the lampholder just clips into place.

It is also possible the wires just push into the terminals.

Red should go to the terminal that lines up with the centre contact.
Black should go in the terminal that lines up with the outer contact.

Failing that you will have to get a new fitting; with respect that fitting doesn't look very expensive and B&Queue sell lots of similar cheap ones. Or get something else.

Make sure the power is completely OFF.
