Replacing a run of fencing

Ground plays it's part in the life of a post. In clay, timber doesn't last as long as in chalky soil.

Our spurs are just under 30 years old, a lot of them have long had it (some were knackered about 10 years ago), every year I end up replacing a couple. On the neighbours side the timber posts have been in about 20 years, still holding up. Admittedly the neighbours fence is a 4 footer, whereas ours is a 6, and gets a windy battering in the winter.

apart from making the concrere posts more beautiful, the masonry paint seems to give protection from rain penetration, especially on the tops.
