replacing a two way light switch

i have just bought a brass two way light switch but am having trouble with the wiring, the switch operates the living room and the landing lights can anyone help, the wifes driving me nuts running up and down the stairs trying to turn the lights off.

You have two red, yellow and blue cables?

This wont be easy. You need to find where they both end. Probably in a light fitting for one, and the other one will go to the upstairs switch.

OR!!! If the living room lights are also 2-way control (2 switches), the other cable will end at the other switch. Post back your results.

Its no consellation, but it would have been soooo much easier if you had noted what wires went where to start with!
 
thanks for that steve, will get back tomorrow, cant turn the elecy off at the moment,
