hi
I read somewhere the max lights on 1 circuit =12.
Does anyone know if by replacing 1 bathroom light with 4 downlights this would be adding 3 additional lights to that ciccuit?
2ndly, does this count as something that can obly be done by an electrican?

many thanks

The 12 lights on a circuit is the old skool way of doing it. This was based on 12 lights in 12 rooms at 100 watts each. Very old fashioned, im sure you'll agree. ;)

Add up the wattages on your circuit and if its under 1200 watts your ok. If its up to 2000 watts, you're probably still ok, not being likely to have all the lights on at once. If its above 2000 watts think again . . .

As you're fitting CFLs, the demand in the bathroom is likely to actually go down!
