Hi,

I'm attempting to replace the lights in my hallway.

I have 3 lights with one switch that turns them all on/off.

I've started on the middle one (as it's easier with the stairs next to it).

The old light fitting had 2 wires coming from the ceiling and was connected as shown in my photo.

The new light has no base plate that fits to the ceiling, so I have used a terminal connector block.

The new light is metal so has an earth cable.

So I have connected all the blue wires together, connected the brown wires together, and connected the earth wires all together.

So, as far as I can see, it's connected as the old light was, but the light does not come on. The other 2 hallway lights do still come on.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

So I have connected all the blue wires together, connected the brown wires together, and connected the earth wires all together.
That would seem to be correct.

As the other two lights work the ceiling wires are obviously ok.

You may have terminated the wires to the new light incorrectly.
Make sure the actual copper is contacting the screw.

Because it is new does not guarantee it is not faulty.

Hi again,

I tried a different one of the new ceiling lights and it works fine, so yes it looks like a fault with that light.

Thanks.
