I have two mains wired Newey NL3602N alarms (one upstairs, one down) that are now at least ten years old and I would like to replace but these seem no longer available so I`m unsure what to replace them with.
What is the prof advice for this? Is it as simple as finding units that have the same three plug wiring, or is it an electricians job?

Thanks for the reply.
I've now taken one of the units down for checking (date of manufacture on the back was 2003) to find the mains wired push-fit plug is also the backup battery cover, which is highly unlikely to fit a newer unit, so I`ll have to rewire into a compatible push-fit plug.
It seems a fairly straightforward job for a competent diy`er but I cant find any source for the plugs.
Any ideas where I can obtain suitable plugs ?

They come with the smoke alarm ! Post a picture of the back of the smoke detector inc the connector

Thanks again. Apologies for the pic being a bit out of focus but the slightly raised lip to left of plug is the battery cover that is attached to the plug.

Can't tell from that ... I've seen the firedex smoke alarms that have a piece on the connector that goes over the battery cover...

This pic may help in id the type, you can see the plug If no good I can take more tomorrow and post to you. Thanks again.

Looked at the newlec smokes on a old web page don't look like any current units , just replace both as they are over 10 years old , the new newlec smokes are dicon/ BRK as I've changed some in last couple of months . The aico smokes are pretty good

If you can get to the junction box, you can change the lead/plug - just don't forget to switch the mains off first! I fitted BRK opticals last time...
