Replacing spiral staircase? (With photo)

Hi

We are thinking of putting an offer in on a house which has a third bedroom in the loft. However, the staircase up to the loft is an open spiral staircase and a complete deathtrap especially for our young children.

Can we feasibly replace it with a normal closed staircase or alternatively add risers to take out the opening and carpet the existing stairs and if so do you know approximately how much both options would cost? I have included a photo below.

You will need to measure floor at bottom of stairs to floor level in loft and also the opening size.

A stair over/across the window might not look as bad as you may think.

other points to note
you need a landing same depth and width as the stairs top and bottom
you will also probably need a handrail and banisters over the window to comply with the 100mm sphere rule
or other special protection at the window

it wouldnt be too much work to put risers on that or you can get riser bars which is a must with small children also them stairs do normally come with a non slip strip to the front of each tread

has that loft been passed off or a diy conversion
