My son's house has a porch (added after the house was built) with a very old wood and glass front door which has seen better days and needs to be
replaced. The original, inner, front door is still in place.

What are the options when choosing a replacement? Does it have to be uPVC double-glazed? I am confused as many DIY sheds are still selling single-glazed wood front doors.

You can replace it with a timber door
But, if it's glazed, does it have to be double glazed?

I thought replacement exterior doors had to meet current Building Regs and had to be notified to Building Control.

B/regs do not apply to external porch doors. Even for the main house door, this is no longer external, so again b/regs won't apply

In any case, b/regs do not apply unless the door has more than 50% of its area (including frame) as glass

Thanks, that's very useful. :D
