Residue in kitchen sink after washing machine load.

Did my first machine load since new boiler and noticed that residue had been pushed up the kitchen sink which I can only assume is related because the sink was clean before I turned on the washing machine.

Is this normal?

Can't see why a new boiler would have any effect unless the condensate pipe has been tapped into the sink waste and is causing some obstruction.

I believe this has been done. Is it something to be concerned about?
I don't mind a bit of dirt being thrown out of the plug hole as long as something worse isnt brewing...

When BG fitted my new boiler they used a self cutting tee to splice into the bathroom basin waste.

These sort of self cutting wastes can leave a flap of pipe hanging inside the pipe usually not a problem but in some circumstances might allow debris to lodge and cause a blockage.

I would get your boiler installer back to check the waste is not being restricted.

I'm with footprints on this.

I doubt that its the condensate causing the difficulty, but rather, the re-arranging of the trap and spigot(s).

There is also the possibility that when running the condensate pipe the w/m waste has also been rearranged - it should run high before dropping down to its spigot.

Sometimes, fitting a 40mm AAV on the trap arm solves a backing up issue.

Ex Corgi fitter 31 years BG & 5 self employed.
I now have to stand and watch a schoolboy from BG fit the boiler in my rental, in order to conform to the rules!
