Ring Circuit using 2.5mm or 4mm

What is the maximum current a 2.5mm ring main can safely carry before you need to update to 4mm cable? Is this rating in a table anywhere?

Depends on how and where the cable is run, and overall circuit length

Plenty of tables in BS7671 but as others have said we need abit more information befor ewe can give you a definitive answer.

I dont think that a ring final in 4mm is a standard circuit.......

Cause it is - the regs just tabulate the minimum size in the OSG

A 'ring main' is hugely different from a 'ring final circuit' - good old DIY books strike again.......when will people realise these have sat on the shelves for years and years
