How easy is it to replace the diverter valve on an ariston micro genus? would 2 plumbers and 3 hours be enough. thats what happened in my case.

How did they both get their hands in there at the same time? maybe they were taking it in turns

If they replaced valve and actuator (god knows why) that would be about 150 quid plus vat for the part. Seems quite alot but we don't know what they did.

valve was leaking , had it replaced, i was not here my wife was £280 was what we were charged for,no reciept taken , no old part left, pretty annoyed myself, plumber told wife he could not get at d/v and needed help.

did you pay cash?

did you ask "how much for cash" before they did the job?

In that case sounds like o rings and labour required. 3 hours max labour for refurb of valve with new o rings and cartridge. imho

i dont think the guts was repaced , the box for the part was left , yet no old one left.,were qouted 150 quid originally. but when the plumber came, he said that he needed help as he could not get it out by himself.wife says he had a mirror and used a torch to bounce light of mirror? personally as i see it theres 3 joints its off.

If the top gland was leaking then that can be replaced on its own. It usually damages the motor.

To replace both those we would charge about £172 in the London area.

To replace the whole diverter valve and the motor we would charge £212.

Its not clear what he actually replaced in your case. Perhaps she was only charged about £60 more that we would? However its never necessary to replace the whole diverter.

We would just charge £103 to replace the top gland and an extra £40 for the actuator if that had failed.
