Hi

I'm posting a lot of questions and apologise to anyone who's getting sick of hearing from me but I'm a first time buyer- property 'in need of modernisation' (ie. a wreck!)- with a very tight budget and I'm finding this site such an amazing resource.

I am having an extension built onto the kitchen- it is currently unusable, it's so tiny and down the end of the house. I'm trying to keep the costs down as much as possible and have decided to have a flat roof instead of the tiled roof/vaulted ceiling I was originally quoted. The extension will be about 3X4m.

1) Can I have a rooflight in a flat roof?
2) What sort of flat roof can I /should I have?
3) Is this a good idea?

I'm meeting with the builder tomorrow afternoon so I want to be able to sound like I know what I'm talking about when I explain my change of plan (unless people tell me strongly it's a bad idea!)

The house is a small end of terrace in Coventry.

All advice welcomed!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

can anyone share their experiences of flat roofs on extensions with me? Are they a reasonable alternative to tiled roofs?

Thanks

Thanks for your advice. I spoke with the builder and we agreed that we'd stick with the tiled roof. I'm going to try and save money in other areas :)
