You can get away with knocking them of with the hammer with a bit of practice.
Clays - brick hammer.
Concretes - grinder.
You may be able to chip them off with a trowel or a brick hammer but because they are tucked away from the top of the tile the may not come away cleanly or they may break.

Tried chisel and hammer without much sucsess, ( on broken tiles free from building suppliers, 
) then after woody's advise Ive used grinder to sharpen chisel, then used with hammer with some sucsess, have angle grinder so will purchase diamond disc and try again.
