Hello! I have been advised to get the best economy from my boiler as well as saving on my gas bill, i should get a room stat as well as putting thermostatic radiator valves on all my radiators! Is this correct? Or do i only need one or the other?

Thank you

You need both.

All rads have Thermostatic Radiator Valves, all but the one that is in the room with the Room Thermostat.

Hi, what if the room one is in the hall dowstairs?Or should the room one be put in the Lounge?

Thank you

it is subject of heated discusion where the roomstat should be.
old school boys say hall, more up to date people tend to say lounge.
either is better than nothing.
bear in mind that the roomstat controls the boiler, so the hall would be brought to the right temperature, potentially leaving the lounge too cold.
personally, i would bring the lounge to 20-21 and be perfectly happy if the hall was 16-18

maybe that is why it is called: roomstat, and not:hallstat

Old school boy here i have always gone with the hall position because people don't seem to congregate in halls, where as they do in the lounge where body heat plays a big part in raising the temperature, room stat turns off boiler rest of house too cold.

If placed in hall out of direct draughts and set to a lower temperature than required in lounge IMHO you get better control.

In that case i will go for the Hall, should i still go for the Rad Thermos in bedrooms? Or just stick to the Hall thermo?

Thank you
