Hi,

I have a Halstead ACE combi boiler but no room thermostat. I was looking at purchasing the following unit....

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=70776&ts=06707#

The manual for my boiler says the following...
"The boiler may be used with any certified mains voltage room thermostat."

and

"If a room thermostat is to be fitted remove the red link between L1
and L3 and connect the thermostat across these terminals. Any
external controls fitted must be rated at 230V 50Hz and have voltfree
contacts."

Can you tell me whether the unit I am looking at is suitable please ?

Also I will be looking to purchase the RF unit...the room stat is battery operated and I guess the receiver unit operates from 230v and is typically installed on a ring main ? If yes then I happen to have a double socket right near the boiler so I guess I could just attach a three pin plug ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers
George

Cheers kevplumb...good to see a fellow hanger first to the line ;)

In looking at my boiler manual I only have two places for connection on the terminal block i.e. L1 and L3 (which are currently looped)...will the Danfoss unit have more than two wires do you know ? I'm trying to assess whether I'm capable of doing this myself.

Is the Danfoss unit OK or would you recommend a different one ?
