Can anyone recommend a decent router for door hinges and locks, and would I be able to do these free hand ie without a jig? I assume a 1/4" router will do the trick.

I use a Makita 3707 laminate trimmer but the little bosch palm router would be another option. 15 to 20mm bit.

I only make up a jig if there are a lot to do, most other times just makrk the ends of the hinge with a knife and use the fence on the router to get width. Onece cut just tidy the ends & corners with a chisel.
