My wifes 216 stopped as she was driving it --no warning etc--the engine just stopped.
It has fuel/the battery is good, but it wont start up . At the moment its parked 20 miles from home waiting for me to rescue it. All cars work by magic these days but i've checked for the obvious things--loose wires, pipes etc,and it all looks ok.
Any ideas please?? :(

First thing to check is that you're getting a spark. Have a look at the distributor cap and rotor arm, make sure the contacts are not burnt and the cap is dry, them whip out a spark plug and lay it on the engine somewhere to get it earthed, turn over engine and check for a spark.

Next thing to check (being a rover which like breaking cambelts!) is that the cambelt is ok. If you cant get the covers off at the side of the road, leave the distributor cap off and make sure the rotor arm turns when the engine is being turned over. If it's not turning then i'd go for broken cambelt.

Come back if neither of these work!
