Hi

I am moving into a new house and want to put a new door opening from one bedroom to another on the first floor. Its a old house thats 3 storeys high and I want to put a doorway through a 2 course thick brick wall. Do I need a structural engineer to tell me what size and load RSJ I need ?

Thanks in advance

Absolutely yes. Contact an engineer, and also contact council building dept at the same time. They will give good advice on how to proceed.
