Just wondering if anyone has some ideas on lifting a rsj in to place in surrey i really dont want to have to get a crane

If I can get it in the back garden I have a fairly flat surface would i hire a beam lifter

The beam is 5.5m @30kg pm

We use scaffold tubes (several short lengths) as rollers. You can use short lengths of plastic drain pipe on softer ground though they can be a bit bouncy.
You need a Genie at each end. Note the roller platform so that the Genie has an uninterrupted road of travel....

So I reckon I can get it around back after looking about rolling it on small poles.

Where i think its going to be a problem is getting it in place.

The single story extension still needs scaffold as my garden runs down so at the moment the floor level at the furthest point is like 1.2m high

So I am mot sure I can get those lifts genie close enough

We have actually had to hire two machines (micro and 3 tonner) when dealing with the beams. Our steel company does not have Hiabs (don't ask). We use the three tonner to get it off the lorry then use the micro to mess around with the beam around the property.
