Morning all

Currently building single storey extension warm roof construction.All walls up currently have all materials onsite for roof,need to get water tight asap..

I have taken plasterboard away to reveal joist and drilled through wall has a gauge,temporary inserted steel rods for 195 timber to sit on,for ease when using the correct bolts.

My big question

Rsj fitted in place first or can this be done when roof constructed ????

Back of the house is 5.5 metres the rsj,the opening is 4 metres...

Also I'm a appointing a builder to fit rsj.

Thanks Tony for the reply,just to confirm I can fix my timber plate to external wall in line with internal joist then fit roof..this wouldnt be a problem when installing rsj,I have seen some photos online where builders have removed brick work way above the rsj which would effect my roof,sorry may just be over thinking it...

In which case you're going to need to be more careful. Generally, some of the lower course or two of brickwork comes loose, and this might affect the fixing of the wall plate.

Dam it! Thought that may increase the new ceiling height to one brick heigh,lintel exposed so slightly different ceilling height either side,not a issue..the timber wall plate will be sitting on block work either side for additional support...then bolted to the brick work...will just need to make sure who ever is fitting the rsj to be extra careful.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know,just want to get water tight asap...
