RTS turn off

If I do go for a smart meter, does anybody know the score with the gas meter? Can "smart" kit be added to it, or does the whole thing need to be changed?
The whole meter is changed. The gas meter is battery powered and sends readings to the electricity meter every half an hour or so.
Usually both gas and electric meters would be changed at the same time.

With mothers house I wanted a gas smart meter, and was told could not have one unless I also got an electric smart meter as well.

The electric meter was under the stairs, and very limited room, the gas meter was installed where it was technically outside, no cabinet to protect it, the porch had a temporary breeze block wall, built to try and keep house warmer, so two front doors, I was surprised they put the gas meter there, but I had left home before it was fitted.

As the time I was against smart electric meters, I was worried about them being remotely turned off, today I have a smart meter, as could not be paid for export without it, but still don't like the idea, as I simply can't read it, I have to rely on the phone app.

I have got it to display some of what is required, I need three readings, off-peak import, peak import, and export, it does not seem to matter what sequence of buttons pressed, never seem to get all three reading.

As long as the app works, not a problem, but really should not be relying on the app.

The two meters day/night are still recording usage based on some internal clock switching that has, it seems, reappeared after an time of absence, somehow, some when...

Just get a smart meter installed. It'll allow you a wider choice of tariffs in the long term.

Smart gas meters are complete replacements... Battery powered to link to the electric smart meter communications hub (and from there to any IHD).

https://www.smartme.co.uk/smets-2 is worth a look as they show an example or two.
https://octopus.energy/smart-meters/ may or may not be even more informative (I've not looked at it).
