Its called sportsmanship, have you not seen the punch's and kicks? the ref turns a blind eye otherwise the game would never get any momento

It wasn't a try, because:

1. The OPR said that it wasn't.
2. He was right.

The much-lauded SA rucking ability has to be seen to be believed - absolutely outstanding against an immensely beefy team. If, after each turnover, SA had had the ability to get through the supreme England defenses, then we'd have looked really silly. Equally, if SA had not managed to halt the progress of the many successful England mauls and recycling phases, it would have been a landslide in our favour.

The fact that both teams were exhausted in the last 10 minutes, and incapable of doing much else apart from leaning on each other, was testimony to a memorable match between two world-class teams.

Personally, I pray that the sport will now lose at least some of the fair-weather fans, and make ground entrance prices more reasonable for the hard core of long-term supporters.

The most amazing thing of all is that England went from zeroes to heroes in a few short weeks. The whole squad has a lot to be proud of.

Agreed 100%

6 months ago I wasn't expecting England to emerge from the pool stages let alone reach the final and they did it through hard graft and a big heart.

I hope they come home, build on what they've achieved and become the next World champion team in the making.

They've gained major respect from me either way.

Humble pie megawatt, you asked earlier in the post if I believed on Peter Pan or the tooth Fairy.I hope they keep Brian Ashton and contract him for the next two world cups so as to not put him under too much pressure.

Always happy to put my hands up when I get it wrong ... Pity the lads didn't do so a little better in the lineouts ... The SA's were just awesome throughout the entire competition

As a Welshman and a SA supporter of oohhh... 90mins or so, I have to say it was a hell of a game!

I would not have liked to have been the one to call that disalowed try tho. From the replays at the time, I thought it should have been given. Wonder what the call would have been back in the days before video refs??

As has been said, two well matched teams who both deserved to be there.

No doubt at all, a try would have been awarded as it was far too close to disallow without the technology.

I think the ref expected the video ref to give it as a try actually as his question to him was something like "Can you give me any reason why I cannot award the try"

Benefits of modern technology
