Hi there,

I was just wondering if it is possible to run an outside socket of the wiring in a security light?

It would just make life easier if i could as the wiring is outside, there was another security light running of it with no problems.

Thanks for any advice :)

Almost definitely not.

The security light will either be supplied from a lighting circuit, or if it's supplied from a socket outlet circuit it will be fused at 3a - neither are much use for a socket.

Sorry. :(

No! You cannot run an outdoor socket from a lighting circuit. Do you have a socket nearby indoors? you can run a spur from that via a fused connector. PLEASE NOTE this comes under PART P of the building regs. This is assuming that you have RCD protection at your CU
