Running an audio output from a Google Nest Mini.

I have added an output to a Google Nest Mini for recording purposes.
I have taken it direct from the speaker but find the volume has to be
pretty loud to get a decent output.
My question is...if i run it without the speaker connected could it
damage the circuit in any way?
