Just been reading about a leak of about 4 tonne of water per hour from a pipe somewhere. But that's not the point.. the question is how much water falls from a shower or downpour? I know this is obviously a "how long is a piece of string" type question, but it does seem amazing how much precipitates in total from tiny raindrops. :?

Dex:

Apart from "Raindrops keep falling on my head", what link does a water leak have with this singer?

A square Kilometer (1000x1000 =1,000,000m) with 25mm (.025m), or 1 inch of rain is equivalent to 25,000 cu M (=25000x1000 litres) 25,000,000 kg or 25,000 tonnes water

The average annual precipitation for Greenwich over the period 1981 - 2010 per year was 557.4 mm, or 557,400 tonnes/km^2 each year.
