Good evening everybody.

I have toyed at the idea of investing in an SDS drills.

However, in the last few years I have heard of cases of broken wirsts occuring when the bit jams in concrete.

Can any one who is experienced in using these drills offer advice!

Many thanks

This only generally occurs if using core bits.

A drill with a clutch stops it snagging and pulling your hand

But you should be drilling slow, so its possibly avoidable

Hold it firm but not tightly. Don't use the trigger lock. Let it go if it spins

Never had any problems with an SDS drill. Once you have used a decent percussion drill, you'll never look at a hammer drill again

The professional ones normally all come with a clutch, but if not be sensible on not whack it on full speed and be oblivious to what you are actually drilling into!

SDS drills never had a problem and my hammer drill is collecting dust as the SDS puts all the rest to shame
