Samsung DVD - SH 853M problem

There is some sort of fault.
It takes ages to copy a programme recorded on Hard drive, to DVD.
Today, its so far taken 3 hrs to copy 50% of a 1hour prog.
Can anyone suggest what the problem may be, it used to transfer a lot more quickly. Also, finalising a disc is becoming hit and miss.

Do yhe basics first. Defragment the harddrive. Reboot. Clean the lens. Try a firmware update. Check if it was faster with other brands of disc.
