Sand: sharp or soft?

Hi,

Need some sharp sand for laying a brick course over. There's already a bag of sand in the corner of the garden left over from another job, but the bag just says "sand". There is a (grading?) number on the sack, S04/11P. Any ideas please - is this sharp or soft sand or how can I tell please?

You can tell by the feel of it.

If its soft sand it will feel smooth. Sharpsand has slightly larger particles in there too.
