Never managed to make mine work well enough to do that. Went off screaming no matter where pointed or complete silence (depending on 'gain' control). And no way to silence the
thing when screaming away (so as to just watch the needle)!!A proper meter (probably £130+) should do better of course with S/N numbers, BER and other info plus a screen and video display. I always wanted one but could not justify the expense to myself.
The Humax, however was much cheaper (£0 ) ... and I'd got plonking my dish holding camera tripod on the ground using a compass to a fine art that I often had a signal of sorts straight away. (That then needed fine tuning incremental movements).
Thanks all for the suggestions I used resin anchors in the end. I noticed it went a bit off topic a bit with signal finders i have all this equipment and some.
