I've heard lockdown has brought with it significant increases in domestic violence and child abuse.

That doesn't surprise me in the least. It wouldn't necessarily take much to push someone over the edge who is already predisposed to violence towards their family. Take a man (yes I know it can be women as well) who perhaps has a short fuse, however he keeps himself in check by playing golf a couple of times a week and maybe going to the pub every other night for a couple of beers after work. That's his time to de-stress.

Take those away for even a few days and it'll be enough to make already 'knife edge' people worse.

And before any of you start, I'm not saying it's right, I'm not saying it's justified, I'm giving one of a thousand scenarios as to what can lead to increased levels of violence in the home.

on average, 2 women are killed every week in the UK at home, by their partners.

while street random attacks are shocking, on average, women are still at greater risk from the man they're living with!

Things are not great for women and girls anywhere unfortunately. 1 in 3 women will experience domestic violence, 1 in 4 sexual assault. You can't argue it's just one man being very busy. There was an article the other week about female joggers and the abuse they receive - so many female joggers have been subjected to attacks - groping, threats of rape, sexually suggestive remarks about their appearance etc.

In short, a lot of men are vile, horrible people that need locking up, but get away with it.

How long did it take for Jimmy Saville to be outed - he got away with it his whole life!
