We are renewing our existing porch by making is slightly bigger and building it from brick rather than half brick/ half double glazing.

The architect has specified a saw cut which I understand would remove a section of the existing wall for a continuous cavity?

The inner and outer wall of the porch would then be wall tied to the existing house outer wall.

The porch cavity will have 90mm PIR insulation. The question I have is does the cut-out section need some form of lintel above the cut-out?

I am trying to understand how this is to be done, properly! before I speak to the builder about it. (We're at 'digging foundations' stage)

Or have I misunderstood what needs to be done?

Based on ^woody^ posting this quite some time a go.
