Any of you sparkies ever strip your old cable from stripouts and get down to local scrappy?
Just took a fair whack of 35mm 4 core ( stripped ) down and got £135 (minus a quid for plasters  ).
Not bad for a few hours strippin cable and a few cuts.
Suppose its only worth doin it with the armours though

We weigh in all our scrap.

All cable 16.0mm² and above is stripped for the top money, the rest is weighed in as dirty copper. Not worth as much, but still worth saving.

Between four of us lads we got £1000 worth of scrap last year.

We reugualrly strip old SUBSTATIONS out, which are full of 600A plus copper busbars, A good single substation is worth about £600, and theres more or less no stripping to do and it takes an hour to srip down...............BUT OBVIOSULEY WE TAKE ALL SCRAP COPPER BACK TO THE COMPANY SKIP AND I NO WAY TAKE IT TO THE SCRAP MAN!!!!! ;) ;)

mmm copper scrap we had over £400 worth and £100 of light iron from a distribution panel change.... a good bonus for 2 days work!

reminds me of when loadsa ****** broke into the 400kV substation and the 132kV alongside it and took out all the copper earthing straps. they never seem to get hurt one bit

Took us weeks to put it all back, fitting temp earths was fun tho, one false move and half of dorset would trip out.
