Hi,

I am building a deck and am just ordering the parts. I'm not sure exactly which deck material as yet, but hopefully hardwood 100 x 25 (any recommendations?

I was going to use Stainless Steel screws, probably m8 x 2.5" (as per another recommendation in this forum).

To speed up the process of drilling pilots, countersinking, etc... I was going to get a No. 8 Screwdigger:

"¼" hex shank. Professional quality. Drills, countersinks and counterbores in 1 operation. For use with No. 8 and No. 10 Plug Cutters"

Is this the correct piece of kit for this job or am I missing the ball a little here?

Thanks for any tips.

deck screws dont need predrilling, in softwood at any rate. built lots of softwood decks but no hardwood, so if you opt for the latter try a few test screws in an off cut before bothering to pre-drill. Even a small deck will use many many screws - believe me you dont wanna be bending over for twice the time if at all possible!
