Hello there everybody!

This is a bit of an embarrassing question. I've installed a bunch of shower screens before and have never had issues, always respecting the inner channels of the frame etc and not just going mad with silicone.

It's the first time i'm installing a Scudo shower frame with a sliding door and fixed panel and the instructions are terrible. I don't want to get water trapped in the frame, smells bacteria etc, so getting this wrong will either let water seep into the frame or it will trap water in the frame.

Can anyone help me understand steps 4 and 7 and where exactly the silicone is meant to go? it's a really weird profile bracket. now logic says i would put it on the the bottom of the bracket shown as number 21. on the outer side against the wall and thats it, or do i put it on the top of 21...if i put it on the top and the bottom and water does get in then it will get trapped. I'm not concerned with water leaking out of the shower. This will all be sealed on the outside once the installation is completed. I just need to make sure water doesn't get in or trapped inside the frame where it shouldn't be.

Many thanks,

J.

Hi Foxhole.

I'd love to seal as directed....did you see steps 4 and 7....where am i being directed to seal? That's my problem. You can't tell from the images. I looked up other screens installation manuals and they don't have this 3 piece corner design.

Thank you

J.

I’ve just had a hinged shower door delivered and looking at the instructions it says to not seal up the wall bar/plate/channel inside the shower, only on the outside. I’m wondering what will happen to the water that gets behind there? I’ve always put a squiggle of silicon on the channel before fixing it to the wall.

Hi Mottie,

I've never sealed behind there, I only ever seal on the outside face, if water gets behind the frame and the wall it won't be able to get past the outside sealent and will run down the wall come back into the tray...at least this is my understanding (:

I've ripped out some doors/enclosures over the years where people have siliconed the frame to the wall, the vapour/water gets between this bead and the external sealant and you get mould...the worst is always the ones that seal on both the inside and outside and you get standing water in there, it smells and is full of mould.

Any thoughts on my drawings in step 4 and 7?

Thanks
