Sea Level Definitely Rising...

Maybe if governments, fishermen and the ecologists had the courage to sit around a table and actually put forward their individual cases then a peaceful solution/compromise may possibly be reached. Pulling stunts like this will not guarantee any form of lasting success. As the guy in the video says, these boulders have the capacity to upturn a boat and lives may be lost. Is that going to generate support for Greenpeace? Somehow I think not but the spin doctors will turn it on it's head and say it's someone elses fault for not stopping the actions of the fishermen.

The sea level has been rising for thousands of years.
300 ft(no idea what that is in centre metres) rise since the last ice age according to some scientists.
If the trend continues then some parts of the British Isles could end up under water.
Maybe that could be a good thing.

Fishing is a funny business, it can be done in a sustainable way, as can it be done the opposite.

In general the UK fishing industry is pretty sustainable compared to that of other European countries, but there is some that is not and these are the big companies, and mostly scollops and muscles (macduff fisheries are a big firm)

I've also witnessed the same fisherman complain about climate change etc then proceed to dump all their waste (plastic bottles, tin foil etc) over the side of the boat...

Greenland: enough ice melted on single day to cover Florida in two inches of water
Data shows ice sheet lost 8.5bn tons of surface mass on Tuesday
All-time record temperature of 19.8C in region on Wednesday...

Greenland’s ice is melting faster than any time in the past 12,000 years, scientists have calculated, with the ice loss running at a rate of around one million tons a minute in 2019. Greenland and the earth’s other polar region of Antarctica have together lost 6.3tn tons of ice since 1994.
Sorry, this one is about climate change. All the rubbish you hear about 'climate always changes' misses the rate of change.

Climate change in Greenland could well benefit the Greenlanders ;)

there is some law that says the nations wealth is shared out with the population and there are
Not that many Greenlanders ?

Bloke on the telly was growing strawberries in his garden that never happened before

plus as the ice recedes it opens up the interior for gold diamonds and other valuable minerals

How likely do you really think it is that the first and only thing those opposed to fishing vessels destroying the seabed have ever done is to start dumping boulders? How likely do you really think it is that they have tried other methods?

As the guy in the video says, these boulders have the capacity to upturn a boat and lives may be lost.
Then they should stop bottom trawling - thats what dumping the boulders is designed to achieve.

Do some research into that type of fishing and then say that it shouldnt be stopped.

I'm not saying they haven't tried talking. Maybe they should try harder though.

Dumping boulders can also have an effect which is not a natural effect caused by nature.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be stopped. But physical conflict during a dispute is not always the best method of resolving issues.

Nah, the ground is sinking.
For the SE of England this is very true, as sea levels rise London is heading the other way (see isostatic rebound) - It is an astonishing thought that sometime in the next 1000 years London will need to be moved to higher ground. Great pity the worlds politicians can only ever focus on the next 4 or 5 years.

And Cornwall changes height with each tide.

Unless the fishermen were in diving suits underneath the dropped boulders I'm not sure physical conflict is the best way to describe it.

Its a great pity the sea doesnt swallow up Westminster and our whole political system....
