We had new french doors fitted 18 months ago and after removing the old tilt and slide door the carpet was short on one side. Due to the very cold temperatures I've noticed mould forming on the wall in the corner where this gap is. If I hold my hand over the gap I can feel a draught coming from the sub floor. We have a dehumidifier for drying washing. The living room and dining room are the warmest rooms in the house seeing as we spend most of our time there. Would it help to seal the gap between the French door pvc and the floorboard with silicone? I'm hoping plugging that gap will make it less draughty and less cold and less likely for condensation to form?
