Hi All,

Can anyone give me some advise on this. We had a new kitchen fitted aboout a year ago and the undermount stainless steel sink was / is sealed to the oiled wood worktop with mastic, however it appears to keep coming away from the wood.

Is there a product out there specifically for sealing oiled wood to undermount sinks? Any other solutions welcome

Cheers

Take a tip mate as I've just had this with a granite installation....fix a horizontal timber batten to the sides of the cupboard, and support the sink with more timber held up by these battens.
Two battens will do, one each side of the drain outlet. 22mm stuff is fine.
Expecting the sinks to remain in position with just silicone is hopeless.

Stainless sinks should come with clips which are tightened from underneath, clamping it tight to the worktop. This plus silicone will keep it in place plus watertight.
OP: Run a nice thick bead of silicone as normal under the edge of the sink, let it go off before fixing in place with the clips, the silicone when fresh will adhere to to the sink, when dry will compress down against the worktop when the clips are tightened. If you don't have the clips contact the supplier of the sink.
