Searching in sub-forums

Is there some reason why the Search function doesn't work in the General Discussion sub-forums? Searches for text strings that I know to exist don't return anything. Also, the option to "Search this topic" does not appear at the tops and bottoms of threads. The only search that does seem able to penetrate their hidden depths is "Search by author". It's very annoying when you're trying to find something you, or anybody else for that matter, posted many pages back but you can't remember exactly where.

The sub forums were not included in the search index because they are word games and jokes, which we didn't think people would want to search, would add extra time to re-indexing etc.

If there is sufficient demand it is something we can add. Would anyone else find this useful?
