Self levelling screed around waste pipe

I'm just prepping the floor ready for SBR primer and then self levelling mix.

What's the best way of protecting the waste pipe area in the ground so the self levelling goes around it nicely making sure none goes inside? Ive seen someone create a 'dam' using foam and then cut it away and make good the area afterwards. Is there a simpler/better way?

I normally use gaffa tape. Cut it away afterwards and pipe still accessible

Thanks, would I self level up to the inner line or outer? The outer being the edge of the clay pipe in the ground

If it's hidden then I'd go to the outer ring. Gives more room for my future maintenance.
