I've recently sanded the floorboards in my living room but now have a problem with my hearth where the tiles have come loose and are cracked. I want to use self levelling concrete to replace them but the floor is not flat and the floorboards bow across the area where they meet the hearth. meaning they would sit about 4mm proud over the rest of the level concrete hearth.

Any suggestions as to how i resolve this without having to sand the boards down.

Ideally the hearth should be raised above the floor level by about 50mm.

Having sanded the floorboards, can i assume that this has been done as you wish to leave the floorboards bare and you are not covering with another flooring product?
