Sentinel Combiguard or Cistermiser Combimate

Hi,

Any thoughts on these two scale reducers? I have read previous posts with varying opinions.

Do they work, is it worth having one installed?

I have just had British Gas here to do a first service on my Vaillant EcoTec 831 combi and they have suggested I have a Combimate fitted (they quoted £250 to supply and install). I have noticed the Sentinal Combigaurd is also available and works on the same principle.

Any thoughts?

p.s - one previous post I read said that Vaillant disapprove of the Combimate as they had evidence of it leaving a jelly like substance behind??

never heard that one and plenty of vaillants where i used to live
