Separate CPC required for 10mm2 cable to attached garage consumer unit?

Cobblers.

Having a large cable feeding a CU in a garage is the best way to do it.

This way, any an additional circuit which may be above 13a can easily be added

Agreed, sparkwright.
Winston has this repetitive idea that any shed or garage only needs a light and a socket. Others plan for the future.

I know, what's the matter with him?

He's said the same thing on another two threads today.

Is he a bit crazy?

Maybe not, but the op has stressed he wants a power supply in the garage, so it's common sense to run just one large cable from the cu to here - then he can add virtually whatever he wants.

To be fair to Winston1 he has taken on board the good sense of having emergency lighting. He is learning albeit very slowly.

I obviously have not spoken to the electrician the builders will be using so I'm just going to run a 10mm2 twin and earth and leave both ends neatly coiled away for his/her future use. It will be more than enough for what we will power in the garage and I will let the electrician choose the appropriate RCBO for the existing board. I will not be doing any wiring up, I'm simply trying to reduce problems later on.

Why have you not spoken to the electrician about this? He or she will be better positioned to advise than people in any forum.
