Hi,
I have just moved into a 12 year old house where the shaver socket is right where you want to install a cabinet or mirror above the bathroom hand basin. Is it OK to leave the socket in situ and cut a hole in the back of the bathroom cabinet for the socket to protrude through or do I need to get in an electrician to reposition/remove the shaver socket first.

Thanks for the quick reply,
I was thinking that possibly the temperature rise of the transformer in an enclosed space may be a problem.

Electrically? Yes.

Aesthetically and practically, so that you have to open the cupboard to use the socket and hope that the cable doesn't knock anything over? Sounds a bit carp to me.

I'd move the socket, or consider getting a cabinet which has a built in shaver outlet, and power it with the cable supplying the existing socket.

Thanks for your comments, moving the socket would be a better solution but as I understand it would require employing an electrician

It's about time someone bought out a BS4753 toothbrush socket with two 230V outlets on it.
