Hey guys, I am after a bit of advice please, when flushed,my mothers upstairs toilet makes a sound like a foghorn when refilling the cistern, if turn on the cold tap at wash basin the noise stops or drops dramatically BUT if run hot tap instead of cold tap it makes the foghorn noise even louder. I would have thought the ball valve ( think that's what its called, side entry valve attaches to water inlet and onto ball float ) was the problem, but this lark with the hot tap has completely thrown me. Was my initial thought correct ? any help please ?
I only found out about the difference in noise with each tap as my mother said it was a foghorn but when running cold to wash her hands the noise lessened, so I tried with hot tap, and as I said it magnifies the sound. not nice for the neighbours next door, especially through the night
