I was working on a building site on friday, which was using 240v to power all the site instead of 110v. The festoon lights on the site were all homemade with orange or yellow 1.5mm flex, with connector blocks and a bit of cable to a bulb holder. The supply to the site was from a 16A ceeform socket on one of the site huts, to wooden drum with a 16A ceeform socket on, which feed a bit of SY cable which went to a board with a DB with a RCD in, which feed six double sockets.

Here are some pictures

Where the hell was that site ???? It has broken so many H+S rules its no longer funny .

I take it you have had no part in it and have advised the Site foreman of your concerns.

The worrying thing is that by the look of the pictures its a decent building judging by the fire alarm cables.

Probably wired by some numpty DI who has never even set foot on a real building site, never mind had experience wiring site supplies.
