Should asylum seekers be allowed to work while their claim is processed

As far as I am aware, there is no maritime law that states a person cannot launch a vessel into the sea and sail off in it .

What, even if it is an inflatable, which has a hole in it? What about the overloading? Titanic would not be allowed to set sail now, with inadequate lifeboats for everyone.

That probably wouldn't apply to somebody starting the journey in foreign waters.

solas regs are an international convention. French interpretation of regs tend to be heavier handed than the UK hence dozens of UK sailors fined for minor infringements when visiting France.

I suspect the regulations would apply to the criminals organising the crossings, rather than the asylum seekers.
