Should I be concerned

Hi guys,

I just had a bid accepted on a house I am wanting to buy. The house has some quite chunky cracks on the front exterior window to window, I found an earlier listing which shows they was there around 10 years ago too.

The house was built in 1870.

I’m a little concerned about purchasing this house after reading a little more about the issues cracks can have. My main worry is that I wouldn’t be able to sell it.

I’ve attached some pics. The green wall is the interior side of the exterior pic.

Thanks all,

Tom

The external cracks look more than hairline but if they have widened not for ten years they may be historic. Worth getting an SE or building surveyor to look at it, if you are concerned about a future sale.

Blup

Built about 1870 . Did you really expect it to be perfect. If worried, get a proper survey and written report. Or have you a builder mate who can view and advise ? Sometimes the hands on journeyman approach is good and cheaper.

Well of course I didn’t expect it to be perfect, but that doesn’t mean I can’t raise the question as to weather the imperfections are significant enough to avoid.

Thanks for the reply anyway, the surveyor has been booked
